what a day we had yesterday at the music festival.
we arrived in the heat of the day, with sweat dripping as we made our way from the parking, through security and finally to our friends. once we got settled dear hubby went and got us a few necessary beers to cool our faces and nerves.
all of the kids got into some fast chasing game, and then they convinced a couple of the dads to throw them up in the air! what fun!

the music was amazing! gord downie from the hip sung with the sadies and he was great. i didn’t really get to watch him, but i did listen closely, as we were trying to have some smashed potatoes, tomato salad and sweet potato burrito for dinner. but the highlight for the day was mix master mike, for sure. dear hubby and i danced as though we were twenty again! some of the kids joined in and busted a move too, and some parents too, it was such fun.

listening to to the mix master mike’s samples confirmed for me that i will never see the beastie boys in concert again. adam yauch’s recent passing really hit home and i got sad. but, i kept dancing, even though i felt tired and old! he was awesome! then we headed to the pond for a quick dip to cool down. after that the kids sat in the chariot, ate pretzels, while we walked around checking out some vendors.
the kids ran around with glow sticks, as emmy lou harris sang beautifully. it was such a lovely evening! i strolled over and watched the incredible artistry on the silks.

before the final act, feist, came on we said bye to our friends and cozied up the kids back into the chariot and walked. they feel asleep quickly, as the temperature dropped and the dew settled on the grass. i was feeling cold and tired, so dear hubby got us some fancy grilled cheeses, which were incredible! we only heard feist play two songs, and then we decided it was time for us to head home. i was cold, i had a headache, and we were so, so tired.

our day was so great, and our lovely friends are all talking about doing it all over again next year and i can’t wait!

here is jimmy fallon (SNL grad), the roots (love ’em and have for years!) and carly rae jepson (not sure who she is), getting their jam on using classroom instruments! this video instantly made me smile! what fun!

well, it is the most perfect day out there. bright blue skies, not a cloud in sight, no humidity and a breeze to make it feel even more perfect! the kids have turned into nudie summer babes, running around the backyard in their nakedness, painting or doing chalk art. they are so stinkin’ adorable.

we have been in the throws of father’s day preps and i will post pictures of the final projects, so as not to spoil the surprise for anyone! bear knows all about dear hubby’s gift, but also fully understands that it’s a secret and explained to his dad that he can’t talk about it. whew!

i am officially addicted to this song by gotye. it is the ultimate post-break-up song and takes me back to my youth, which was packed tight with boy- drama. this was obviously before meeting dear hubby, as we have never experienced any kind of drama; we are perfect! I remember blasting it from my fluance ai60 speakers so loud and singing along to every word. Well, I still do…

anyhow, give it a listen… this is going to be a big hit, or bigger than it is already!

this is bear’s favourite top 40 song. whenever it comes on the car radio i crank the volume and we all dance and sing in our seats! hello! it’s by martin solveig and dragonette.

dear hubby was the one who got us hooked on adele. and man, she can sing! every time i hear the song below i get teary eyed and goosebumpy. her song writing skills and voice combined make a killer combo and one that this mama loves to listen to. and lawd, she’s born in 1988, that really puts me in my place!

i’ve always loved singing at the top of my voice on car journeys, so much so that I once had the music on so loud that I busted the sound system! i got a new componet speaker as fast as i could so that I could continue to make the most of my glorious playlists. since we got sirius radio (satellite radio), we listen to music pretty much whenever we are at home too. my fave station is 70’s on 7, but with over 200 stations to choose from we do get a chance to load up on all sorts of music. i can often be seen shakin’ my thang while cooking dinner; it’s a perfect time for a family dance party!

the day was far from perfect, but it was a fabulous day anyway! we all struggled with the unrelenting sunshine pouring down on us. we hit the beach for a quick splash, food and a break from the stimulation. then we headed to the island stage for some shade where lion napped on the ground and the rest of us enjoyed some spoken word. very cool.

our chariot only has a jogging wheel, so dear hubby did some magic and attached two ghetto wheels from an umbrella stroller on the front of the chariot. the retro-fit worked like magic on the paths, grass and asphalt. saved us a bundle too!

bear was a grumpy grouch during by dinner time. i will summarize with the three words: screaming, barking, whining. so, we strapped both kids into the chariot and strolled around. bear fell asleep quickly (yippii) and stayed asleep for hours! so great! lion fell asleep soon after and we set him down on the grass as we settled in by the main stage. dear hubby and i grooved to serena ryder, danced and ate some AMAZING ginger-flavoured ice cream.

at around 10pm, when the last act was about to go on, bear woke up! he danced and danced to the indie rockers, sloan. dear hubby and bear were jumping and kicking to the tunes and loving every minute of it!

can’t wait to go back next july!
